The Collective is a program led by Autumn Overbay, LSW and Marissa Smith, LCSW. We utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic methods, creative expression, and interactive activities set in the calming influence of nature and the farm to empower individuals, couples and families to build resilience, foster connection, and achieve personal healing and growth.
While we are trained in talk therapy, our sessions take place at Highland Heights Farm and we are able to use interactive methods such as equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) and learning activities (EAL), art, play, board games and other interventions during our sessions to bring to life the roadblocks and challenges being faced. By using movement and interactions healing can take place in innovative ways more than just sitting and talking can achieve. Our therapy and trainings utilize EAP or other methods as appropriate.
Are you an organization look for specific trainings? We also offer customized Equine-Assisted team building or group sessions.

Clinical Director
Autumn Overbay, LSW
Autumn first experienced equine-assisted psychotherapy when she was a House Director for a residential program, and was hooked! The difference in therapy when you can step outside of an office and have immediate feedback from a horse can help people connect to their thoughts and emotions in a whole new way. Horses are prey animals, and as a result, act as a mirror to our internal intentions and can help people regulate their emotions instantly because of the direct and immediate feedback you get by adding a horse to the experience. Autumn has spent more than 20 years working with youth and families in crisis and looks forward to helping your family through difficult circumstances such as loss and grief, trauma, conflict and life transitions.

Therapist
Marissa Smith, LCSW
Marissa has been working clinically with families for over 8 years, using an eclectic range of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. Her lifelong interest in horses, sparked by a childhood dream of owning one, led her to discover the profound impact of equine-assisted therapy. She believes that animals, particularly horses, offer a unique connection that allows individuals—especially those who have experienced hurt from others—to explore emotions, develop skills, and move towards their goals in a solution-focused way. Marissa enjoys working with children, teens, parents, and couples, helping them navigate issues such as anxiety, relationship conflict, trauma, and school avoidance, all while fostering growth and healing.
