From the Field

It feels strange this year. Usually, this time of year we would be wading in heaps of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, lettuce and more. This year we have let our fields fallow and shut down our greenhouse. Just as our fields lay resting in order to regenerate, we too are using this opportunity to regenerate Highland Heights so that we may better serve our surrounding communities.

We cannot predict the future, but we can invent it. So I am going to take a chance and make a couple of forecasts:

  • In 2022 One Hundred Thousand is the number of meals we can give back into the community.

  • In 2021 we expect to have 8-10 weekly volunteers to help run the farm, growing produce to be given away to the local food banks and pantries.

  • In 2021 we expect to extend the driveway to the greenhouses and build a parking lot. This project will allow us to get delivery trucks closer to the produce for pickup. This is especially a problem in the winter when we can not drive on the grass.

  • In 2021 we expect to have 10-15 Ambassadors who believe in the mission and want to help spread the work of the Foundation by sharing through social media, small fundraisers, creating task groups etc.

  • In 2021 we expect to upgrade our electrical metering system to the farm so we can save on electricity leaving more overhead for the mission.

  • In 2021 we expect to have 50 regular monthly donors who want to partner with us to further the cause of the Foundation. You can make a direct impact on the lives of those in your community and beyond.

Beyond all of that I want to say Thank You! This is not a small task to accomplish and it is through YOUR service, YOUR voice and  YOUR donations together we are able to help those who are facing food and job insecurities right here in your community, your state or your country.

 Have a fantastic month!
