From the Field

“Cooking is all about people. Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat.”

  Guy Fieri

Why are we holding cooking classes for our production assistants? Because food brings people together. Food has a way of bridging those gaps that exists between us and others. Through our workforce development program we teach cooking skills so that they may begin to heal themselves and their families. One of our goals is to expand into a large outdoor kitchen area, giving our production assistants the space they need to learn new skills in the kitchen so that they may apply them inside their own homes and outside in the workforce.

Speaking of cooking. What are your favorite veggie sides or meals? What are your favorite vegetables to put on the table? It is that time of year when we are making final seed orders, planning our planting schedule and organizing beds to maximize our growing and what we can give away for the year! There are so many choices for growing, so let us know what you love to eat. Post a comment on our Facebook page or reply to this email. We love hearing from you!

Join us for one of our up and coming events or volunteer opportunities. We would love to see you there.
