“LET YOUR DREAMS STAY BIG AND YOUR WORRIES STAY SMALL”

  RASCAL FLATTS

I love the quote above. Often times worry can invade our lives and often time create unnecessary  stress. In farming, this is no exception. Ask farmers what they’re worried about these days, and they’ll be quick to talk about bad weather, low market prices, labor shortages, cumbersome regulations and restrictive trade policies. One thing not often talked about is the mental health of the farmer dealing with all of this stress. Farming is one of the most stressful occupations in the United States today.

As a farmer I don’t want to easily dismiss theses struggles as the stress is real. However, a lot of time is spend worrying on things the we as farmers have no control over. Mother nature can be hard to work with sometimes! At Highland Heights we want to ensure to let our dreams stay BIG and those worries stay small. Our ultimate goal is to give away 500,000 meals a year and have 100 individuals go through our workforce development program each year!

“We have a vision of a world of healthy people and communities. Everyone deserves to have a good job, and everyone deserves to eat well.”

This is an exciting time. Because of you we are nearing or first harvest of the summer season. Thousands of pounds of fresh produce will be given back to the community, helping feed families in need. This is a direct result of your volunteer efforts on the farm as well as your donation that have made this happen. We can’t be more excited or grateful to all of of supporters. I personally can’t wait to be able to share with you stories from the families that have been impacted by your generosity.

We have much to celebrate as we continue to grow and help others, make new partnerships and reach out into the community. We have much more to share with you in the coming months including new projects!
